Tax Returns, Pricing & Switching Accountants

How much does GoForma charge for a sole trader tax return?

Our Start package for sole traders begins at £39 per month and includes your annual self assessment tax return, quarterly bookkeeping, email support, and MTD-compliant filing. No hidden fees.

Will switching accountants to GoForma disrupt my current HMRC filings?

No. We handle the full transition including contacting your previous accountant, obtaining professional clearance, and transferring all records. Most clients are fully onboarded within two weeks with zero disruption.

Are GoForma accountants ACCA and AAT qualified?

Yes. Every accountant on the GoForma team holds either ACCA or AAT qualifications, and we are registered as authorised agents with HMRC.

When is the UK self assessment tax return deadline?

The online self assessment deadline is 31 January following the end of the tax year. For the 2024/25 tax year, the deadline is 31 January 2026. Paper returns must be filed by 31 October 2025.

Does GoForma handle VAT returns and Making Tax Digital compliance?

Yes. We prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns using MTD-compliant software. Our Operate and Grow packages include VAT as standard.

What happens if HMRC opens a tax investigation into my business?

We provide full representation during HMRC enquiries and investigations. Fee protection insurance is included with our Grow package, so there are no unexpected costs.

Which accounting software does GoForma integrate with?

We work with FreeAgent, Xero, and QuickBooks. If you already use one, we integrate directly. If not, we recommend the best fit and handle setup.

Can I upgrade from Start to Operate mid-year?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time with no penalty. The new rate applies from your next billing date and we adjust your services immediately.

Do I need to be based in London to use GoForma?

No. While our office is in London, we serve clients across the UK. Everything is managed remotely via our secure online portal, with phone and video consultations available.

How does GoForma’s Section 24 tax planning work for landlords?

We review your full property portfolio, model incorporation scenarios, and identify every allowable expense. Most landlord clients save between two and five thousand pounds annually through restructuring alone.

Can I access my accounts and documents online at any time?

Yes. Every client gets a secure online portal with real-time access to accounts, tax returns, receipts, and correspondence. You can upload documents, message your accountant, and track deadlines from any device.

Does GoForma file annual accounts with Companies House?

Yes. Our Grow package includes full annual accounts preparation and filing with both HMRC and Companies House. We also handle confirmation statements and any statutory changes.

What is the difference between an accountant and a bookkeeper?

A bookkeeper records daily transactions and reconciles bank accounts. An accountant interprets those records, prepares tax returns, advises on tax planning, and ensures regulatory compliance. GoForma provides both services under one roof.

How quickly does GoForma respond to client enquiries?

Email enquiries are answered within 4 business hours. Operate and Grow clients have priority phone access during office hours (Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00).

Is the initial GoForma consultation genuinely free?

Yes. The 30-minute consultation is completely free with no obligation. We review your current financial position, identify potential savings, and recommend the right package for your business.

Does GoForma handle contractor IR35 assessments?

Yes. We provide IR35 status assessments for contractors, review contract terms, and advise on the most tax-efficient working arrangements. See our contractor accounting page for details.
